On a warm spring day we drove to Vernon and followed a series of roads to the Cosens Bay Trailhead.    We hiked the Coming Round the Mountain Trail in a clockwise loop, but we also took a series of other trails in a large 11 km loop.    On the western shoulder of the hill we came to a junction.     The main trail wound down to the shoreline of Cosens Bay.    We chose to follow a single track trail over the shoulder which was fine for a while, but it came to the edge of sheer bluffs, then a faint rough track wound its way down the very rocky, steep, and slippery slopes.    In our group, 4 of us scrambled down the route and the other 8 backtracked and took the proper trail.    Our smaller group followed the Sidewinder Trail back up to the start.

The Coming Round the Mountain Trail was wide and graded, suitable for hikers, dog-walkers, and mountain bikers.   The first few kilometers were on the north side of the hill, then we continued through open forest on the west side.   We had better views as we approached the south end of the hill.    In retrospect, the better route would have been along the Lookout Trail.

The final section followed a good trail back up the hill, pleasant, but no longer views.     A number of photos were taken along the way and they are shared here as a slideshow of the Google Photos Album.
