Mt. Embleton Hike
On a sunny day the Mt. Embleton Trails was the hiking destination. From the upper parking lot, the upper trail wound up through the forest to the Pine Loop Trail and over to the gazebo and the lookout, the highest point on the trails. From there, the trail descends to a junction and the trail to the right goes down to the Skyline Trail following a rocky ridge back down to the forested slopes.

There are fine views most of the way down the Skyline Trail. As the trail winds down, there are several junctions to return back to the parking lot. The return route was along the Old Mills Trail, a favorite. This loop route is 6.5 km with about 327 m (1072 ft.) of elevation gain. There are trail signs at most junctions and the trails were in good shape.
A few images from the hike are shared in a slideshow. Click any of the images to go to the album and click any image for a caption.
The Mt. Embleton Trails are one of our hiking destinations we do every year, usually in the summer or the fall. A well-timed fall hike to enjoy fall colors is in the plan.
